Psychiatrists

Sharon Curtis M.D.

Dr. Curtis received her M.D. from the University of Missouri, Columbia and specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as General Psychiatry.  Dr. Curtis received her specialty training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and completed her General Psychiatry training at Duke University Medical Center.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Medical Association.

Areas of specialization:  Adolescent and Child Psychiatry, General Psychiatric Disorders, Individual, Family and Couple Counseling, Substance Abuse.


Gregory Lunceford M.D.

Dr. Lunceford received his degree from the University of Chicago and Duke University.

Areas of specialization:  Individual Psychiatry, General Psychiatric Disorders, Individual Counseling, Substance Abuse.


Maurice Jeter M.D.

Dr. Jeter is a Harvard Medical School trained clinical psychiatrist with additional training completed at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Medical System, which is ranked among the top ten facilities for mental health care in the country. As a recent addition to the Atlanta Counseling Center, Dr. Jeter works hard to establish a professional and supportive relationship with his patients. If medications are necessary, he takes the time to discuss any concerns and to consider alternative treatments when appropriate.

Areas of specialization:  Mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia, thought disorders, attention deficit disorders, substance abuse, grief, and memory/cognitive issues.


Psychologists

J. Loren James, Psy.D., M.A.B.C..

Dr. James is a licensed psychologist who received his B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and his M.A. and Psy.D. degrees in clinical psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology, in La Mirada, California.  He did his internship at Metropolitan State Hospital (Los Angeles County, California), working with the severely and chronically mentally ill in both forensic and locked, inpatient treatment settings.  Dr. James also earned a second master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, studying theology and counseling that emphasized a sensitivity and appreciation for the spiritual dimension that is so often a part of the healing process and value system for people struggling with a variety of disorders.

Dr. James is a member of several associations and professional groups including the American Psychological Association (APA), Georgia Psychological Association (GPA), American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS).  He makes his home in north Atlanta with his wife, Annie, and their three children, Gunnar, Bridger, and Greighson

Areas of specialization:  Currently, Dr. James evenly divides his time between therapy, psychological testing, and teaching graduate studies as Adjunct Professor at the Psychological Studies Institute (PSI).

Psychotherapists

Torri L. Griffin, Ph.D., LPC, NCC

Dr. Griffin received her B.A. from Emory University in Psychology, her M.Ed. from West Georgia College in Guidance and Counseling and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Dr. Griffin is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Counseling Association.  She annually attends the Smart Marriages: Happy Families Conferences sponsored by the coalition for Marriage, Family and Couples Education and does motivational speaking on various subjects including Christian dating and relating and living out God's purpose in one's life.

Areas of specialization:  Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Relationships, Couples and Families, Adults-Only Children, Domestic Violence, Spiritual Growth and Development and Life Coaching.


Jason R. Otwell, M.S., L.P.C.

Jason received a Bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development from Auburn University, a Master's degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University, and a Diploma in Christian Counseling from Psychological Studies Institute.

Areas of specialization:  Adolescents, Young Adults, and Adults struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Dual Diagnosis; Personal/Spiritual Growth; Marital Problems; Family Problems.


Pamela M. Doane, M.Ed., L.P.C.

Pam received her bachelor's degree in Sociology/Psychology from Barat College and her master's degree in Human Services and Counseling Psychology from Depaul University in Chicago, Illinois, with a focus on child, adolescent, and family counseling.

Pam is a licensed professional counselor who combines the science of psychology with the art of creative intervention to best serve her child and adolescent clients and to work within the individual family context. Pam has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families dealing with a wide array of issues. Pam utilizes a light-hearted approach in working with her younger clients in order to form a mutually engaged relationship between therapist and client which affects therapeutic change.

Areas of specialization:  Family Transitions and Adjustments (divorce/loss), Anxiety, Depression, Behavioral Problems, Oppositional Problems, Attachment Issues, Pre and Post Adoptive Counseling, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Learning Challenges, ADHD.

Susan B. Reid, L.C.S.W.

B.S. in Human Resources Administration; M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia; Member of NASW, GSCSW.

Areas of specialization:  Grief and Bereavement, Women in Transition, Survivors of Childhood Trauma, Body Image/Self-Esteem, Relationships.
